Joss Whedon: Dollhouse about to get ‘intense’
We all know word on the street was Dollhouse was going to get really good starting with Episode 6. Now you don’t have to take our word for it. Dollhouse creator Joss Whedon is getting the word out as best he can, sending notes to reporters along with advance copies of episodes 6 and 7.
Ratings dipped to just 3.6 million with Episode 4, but the strength of that episode built the numbers back up to 4.4 million for this past week’s airing. After what we called the best episode of the season so far, I think the numbers will continue to go up this week — especially now that it appears Fox’s tinkering mandates may be behind us.
Here’s TV Guide’s take on Joss Whedon’s latest note:
Calling his latest creation’s first episodes mere ”baby steps,” Joss Whedon is getting the word out that from Episode 6 on, Fox’s Dollhouse will be an extra-compelling place to visit.
In a note to reporters (or “Newsly Types,” as he puts it) accompanying a DVD of “Man on the Street” (airing March 20) and “Needs” (April 3), Whedon says, “These two episodes represent a much stronger vision of what I consider the show to be.
“For me, the question isn’t just whether a show is enjoyable, but whether it’s more than the sum of its fun, whether it truly touches, surprises or connects with you. These [episodes] may do none of the above — I’m not the boss of your opinion — but I feel strongly that they, and the eps to follow, are pretty intense, and very much worth the watching.”

Here’s to hoping that the fight between Echo and Agent Paul Ballard will send this episode to the top of Friday night’s ratings.

I adored episode 6 of D0LLH0USE!!
I found it so amazing- the show looks like one of the best created from whats happened and whats to come-
The storyline is great and is obviously building up to something thats going to blow us all away-
Cant wait!!
So glad to hear it! The same thing happened with “Firefly” — due to FOX’s hemming and hawing, Joss had to readjust his creative vision, and the episodes in some ways suffered for it.
Here’s hoping that the next few eps will deliver — but then again, the show is mighty compelling already. (as I discussed in an article here: http://screen.ology.com/2009/03/13/dollhouse-tara-and-multiple-personas/ )
So happy to see this episode deliver! I’d been promising my friends and family a great series and now it’s here (hopefully to stay). I don’t know why Fox has to mess with his creative genius, its Joss Whedon, come on! Is there anything he makes that doesn’t turn to gold?
