Or… Is Alan Tudyk really Alpha in Dollhouse?
OK Dollhouse fans, not all are you are convinced that Alpha is really Michael Muhney. Neither are we to be honest, but isn’t it a great way to get the conversation started. Let’s move on to potential Alpha #2 — Alan Tudyk.
Any Joss Whedon fan worth his salt already knows who Tudyk is, but I’ll fill in the rest of you. Tudyk played a big role in Whedon’s shortlived Firefly TV series, starring as Hoban “Wash” Washburne, the crew’s sarcastic ace pilot. Tudyk shined in this role and was the mouthpiece for much of Whedon’s trademark humor.
You can currently see Tudyk in DirecTV commercials trying to talk a guy out of DVRing his favorite TV shows while a bank robbery is going on… yeah, he could use more regular work. (That was a tad bit sarcastic — Tudyk also has an ABC comedy pilot in the works. He will play a gay man whose roommate/writing partner is straight. Sounds like a different take on Will and Grace… Will and Will anyone?)
So why do we think Tudyk could be re-teaming with his Firefly director? Well… check out this post from the fan site AlanTudyk.org. The post has since been deleted, but it can still be found using the cache pages. Did Tudyk possibly ask them to remove it? Quite possibly if they really want to keep a secret. Here’s the post (spelling and grammatical errors intact):
Tudyk joins Dollhouse
Alan Tudyk has joined the cast of Joss Whedon’s new series Dollhouse.
Dollhouse was created by Firefly’s Joss Whedon and is about an organisation that uses people who’s personalities have been wiped to take on the roles of people that employ them for a variety of tasks. Dollhouse stars Eliza Dushku and will air on Fox from Friday 13.
The official Dollhouse website is at http://fox.com/dollhouse
Again, that post has since been deleted, but AlanTudyk.org isn’t the only fan site that thinks — or once thought — that Tudyk will be joining Dollhouse. AlanTudyk.net mentioned it, as well:
ATDN can exclusively reveal that Alan Tudyk will appear in a major role in Joss Whedon’s new series Dollhouse.
The show, which features a group of memory-wiped operatives who can be ‘loaded’ with any skill required, launches on Friday February 13th on the Fox network. It will be Alan’s first television appearance as an actor since his guest starring role in CSI in 2006, and his first regular role since Joss Whedon’s Firefly.
Alan’s attendance at the Dollhouse wrap party may have alerted fans to his involvement in the show, but the simultaneous gate-crashing of Nathan Fillion threw many off the scent. ATDN hears
that Alan will be a major part of the new series and will appear in multiple episodes. Remember you heard it here first! And congratulations Alan!
Plus, those who saw the ending of “Ghost” last week know that Alpa apparently likes to kill people and then sit around naked sending photos to Agent Paul Ballard. If you’ve seen the movie Death at a Funeral, you’re well aware that death and lots and lots of bare-assness (yeah, we’re going to use that as a word) are two things Tudyk’s done a lot of recently. Seems like the Alpha role might be right up his alley.
The only thing is — the Tudyk we saw in Firefly wasn’t quite as built as Alpha. Has Tudyk been hitting the weights? After all, he had to keep up with that badass Eliza Dushku.
What do you think Dollhouse fans?

Clearly your info is questionable. The “pilot in the works” you mention died months ago! Also, people reporting from the Farpoint convention last weekend say that Alan Tudyk himself said he will NOT be in Dollhouse
It’ll be interesting to see how this plays out. Including any future “cameos” from previous Joss Whedon series. Lot’s of fan favs out there to toss in an episode for the inevitable oooOOO’s and ahhHHH’s.
Definately keeps folks talkin’ about this new show!
